Review : Clinique All About Eyes Quad - Jenna's Essentials

Today I am reviewing my favorite Clinique eyeshadow quad called Jenna's Essentials, a lovely quad of the most basic eyeshadows inspired and named after Clinique's Global Artist Expert, Jenna Menard. I am so happy to see Clinique concentrating on makeup and on the new ideas inoculated by the brand after realizing the potential of the color market and bringing in dermatologist developed and approved brand of allergy tested and 100% fragrance free cosmetics.

I purchased mine from the Shopper Stop at Juhu for 2150 INR for 4.8 gms as it was almost out of stock everywhere. Jenna's Essentials happens to be an everyday palette with some very quintessential and basic colors for any beginner to step in the world of makeup. So lets have a look at this beautiful essential quad....................................

SEPHORA SAYS

What it is:
A palette of eye shadows in four complimentary colors that allows you to create a variety of looks, from natural to dramatic.

What it does:
All About Shadow Quads feature four versatile, complimentary shades to wear alone or layer together in different combinations. For dark skintones, lighter shades will impart a more dramatic look and dark shades for a more natural style. Dark shades look more dramatic on fairer skins; light ones look more natural.

What else you need to know:
These powder colors are formulated to be crease and fade resistant, and are ophthalmologist tested for contact lens wearers and those with sensitive eyes. This set includes a mirrored compact with illustrated instructions plus two sponge-tip applicators.

Suggested Usage:
-Use sponge-tip applicator to sweep an allover base shade across entire lid, lash line to brow.
-Create dimension with medium-toned shades. Layer and blend color into the crease and/or along lash lines.
-Deepest shade can be applied as a liner along lash lines using the applicator tip.
-For a more detailed application, choose specialists from Clinique's Makeup Brush Collection.
-Remove with your favorite Clinique makeup remover.

PACKAGING

Clinique has a very fresh take on their packaging and the colors on the box are very pretty and inviting. The case has a very reflective cover (possibly plastic with some coating) and has a clam shell design which opens into a mirror and another case of the eyeshadows and applicators, both joined together at a hinge. There are lot of minute details that are written inside and includes a small eyeshadow application tape and the eyeshadows are numbered for creating the ease in application.

INGREDIENTS

FORMULA

I am an ex-employee of Clinique and I have gone through that phase of having poorer and powdery formulas before. The newer formulations which Clinique boasts about is much more pigmented and smoother in usage. The eyeshadows comprise of mattes and soft shimmers and are beautifully pigmented enough to get them visible on the eye lids. The colors pick up very well with eyeshadow brushes as well as applicators. The formula glides smoothly, is buildable and can be layered, long lasting (with a primer underneath) and stay put for quite a long time. (I haven't tried that out).

COLORS

These are the colors that Jenna Menard got inspired from her own makeup kit. The colors are
  • Pure White soft shimmer
  • Deep Matte Brown with a tinge of grey
  • Shimmery taupe-y beige with reflective pearls
  • Deep satiny black with a noticeable teal and blue pearlized pigments
They are numbered from 1 to 4.
