Review : MAC Pro Setting Powder in Peach

I have always hunted for really finely milled translucent foundation setting powders and always loved all the purchases I have ever made. Talk Guerlain, Clinique, Chanel.....they make them all so well. But when it comes to professional results, I can only trust products made for professionals. And nothing better than MAC Pro Set Powder. I got 2 shades viz. Peach and Soft Yellow and will be reviewing them subsequently.

What I expect from a translucent powder?
  • It should be nearly invisible on the skin. Almost traceless. This is not a powder foundation that has to be seen when applied.
  • It should be color correcting. This means Peach and Deep Peach colors for under the eyes and soft yellow to balance any whiteness on the face. This isn't enough for explaining though.
  • It should give a velvety satin finish on the face while having moderate to better oil absorbing and oil controlling properties.
  • It should give long lasting effect.
Anyways, lets see what this lovely powder is all about................

MAC says.......

This is a jet milled loose powder that effectively stabilizes and fixes the makeup. Micronized pigments and talc render color purity and ultra silky soft feeling application. The finish is velvety matte and the coverage is sheer -  light.

I love the color balancing complexion enhancing shades.

This comes is a sleek container that looks quite big enough to hold on to a teensy 8 gm product. I like the black packaging as it looks so thoroughly professional. The black box, the black lid and the transparent plastic container (to show how much product is consumed), this is all so PRO looking just like other MAC products.

Its a weightless silky powder that ends up imparting a velvety feel to the skin. I love it for the fineness and sheerness of the powder. Although it gives a sheer finish, I can feel the application of this powder on the face. It sets the foundation so well and so beautifully. The color balancing effect can be easily noticed.

I used a large fluffy Guerlain Powder brush to dust the loose powder everywhere. The bigger the brush, the lesser the saturation of the product on the face. It has extremely amazing wear and very good oil absorbing property. This is one powder that I could compare with Chanel's Poudre Libre when it comes to fineness.

The color of the powder is 'Peach'. This means, it takes care of the blueness of the face to a certain extent. This is the best powder to set the under eye concealer as I have done in this picture. I have used Clinique All About Eyes concealer in 05 Medium Beige shade which I have set with this peach powder. The soft yellow shade that I also purchased is actually for the under eye and the entire face since it takes away any whiteness from the foundation. This 'peach' goes as a fabulous powder on my face since I have neutral peach undertones in my skin.

All over, this is one of the BEST Translucent powders I have ever used.

I bought mine from the exclusive MAC PRO store in Shoppers Stop, Juhu, Mumbai. It is available at 8 gm for 1650 INR. The size is less but its easy to carry in the vanity,
