The Chanel Week : Joues Contraste in Reflex

With Reflex, I think struck a pot of GOLD....Or a pot of the heavenly ethereal NECTAR from the Mt.Olympus. Its that beautiful....Looks like a blush used by Greek Goddesses Hera and Athena.....I cant compare this blush to lesser than this. I have always eyed Reflex and when you see the blush stand at Chanel this is the blush on which your gaze falls first. Imagine, how luminous it could be....

The Joues Contraste blushes are simply amazing. Reflex looks like it rules the blush kingdom...Like the Lion King of the Blush Kingdom. I must say that these Chanel blushes are crazily addictive and one cannot be satisfied with one. One gentleman's advice for the blogsphere...."Own this blush. Its the blush of a life time."
Anyways lets have a look at what is REFLEX all about.......

The Chanel Week : Joues Contraste in Pink Explosion

There was an explosion of shrieks and shouts in the Chanel boutique that day!! We were all so happy and excited to see this blush!! LOL....Its an Explosion of Pink..they have reserved it for someone but I convinced the lovely SAs to sell me one of the pieces. Its just that perfect bright pink that I wanted and I got it.

Pink Explosion really explodes into a scintillating cloud of glitter and color on the face and you cannot escape it. Looking for that perfect gorgeous medium bright pink blush??? Your search ends here. So lets have a looksie....

Instagram Tuts!! Ethereal Glow, Vinyl Liner, Rosy Lips

This looks is really special and very different from all the looks we do. Its using a lot of products (quantity) and yet getting an ethereal looking complexion and lovely glow on the face a la Charlotte Tilbury. She's such an inspiration for all the looks I do for Prerna these days.

Lets see what products were used to achieve this glowing look.........

Look Breakup of my friend Jigisha's makeup

Jigisha is my newest and loveliest friend and she is so vibrant, well spoken and amazing as a person. Makeup is what connected us and this is a very strong connection between two passionate people...yippeeee....so glad to have Jigisha as one my nicest and closest friends. Jigisha has one of the most incredible complexions and she is so effortless when it comes to makeup.

Today at the Guerlain counter in the Parcos store at Palladium we tried out the Tenue de Perfection foundation and ended up doing a quick makeup look. Let me share the products that we used....

Review : Guerlain Tenue De Perfection Timeproof Foundation SPF 20

This is the newest foundation in my tow. I literally got it today, used it in the store and now I am ready to review it. Guerlain is well known in the luxury makeup circuits for their beautiful foundations and this looks like it surpasses a lot of expectations one has from a foundation and has a lot of brownie points to earn.

I loved this foundation and there is so much to rave about it. Its Guerlain's latest launch and actually launched with their CRAZY PARIS Holiday 2013 collection and I think this is the apt time to release this considering the long new year party nights..

A regular long wearing foundation should have a semi matte finish, should be water resistant and transfer proof and last for long time till it gets removed. I am searching for a couple of long wearing foundations (that even I could wear for makeup jobs and feel happy) that make the whole experience wonderful and this is one of those foundations that would do justice to all the criteria that I am looking at. So lets have a look at what it is all about....

The Chanel Week : Joues Contraste blush in Frivole

This is from where my Joues Contraste journey started....all thanks to Prerna....Prerna gifted me my first Chanel JC blush and this is how the journey just started. I was so smitten by the color and it was just perfect for Spring 2013. This is a color that is all seasons and gives a perfect peaches and cream complexion with a few swishes of the blush brush.

Frivole means 'Vain' in French and yes its true....Seeing from the makeup artist's point of view this blush would create a whisper of color on the cheeks and its all so beautiful. I also got inspired to buy this blush after reading amazing review by Radhika of Weekend Ramblings and just before I could purchase it, Prerna gifted it to me....yipppeeee.....Anyways lets see what is all FRIVOLE about..............

The Chanel Week : Joues Contraste blush in Orchid Rose

There are some colors which can only be expected by Chanel and this is of them. I am sure that a lot of experiments have been done to get a color like this or this color just happened by the maverick Peter Philips of Chanel. Its a Joues Contraste blush that may have entered silently but has definitely made an impact.

With such a beautiful name 'Orchid Rose', there is more to this unique blush than anything else. I am not sure whether its a limited edition but I was told that its a rare one by the Chanel BAs and its worth the money. This is one blush which everyone could wear and look good (I mean women and men too). It imparts a lovely ethereal glow on the face and looks simply beautiful. Its one of the versatile blushes that could be used with any lipstick and creates that perfect harmony on the face. Like some Chanel blushes, it does help sculpt the face and is an amazing blush.

I have also reviewed Ultra Rose and Rouge Joues Contraste Blushes and you must read them too. So lets see what is Orchid Rose all about......................

Just another Vice 2 Look.....

Before I could go and do a complete post on Vice 2 palette, it made sense for me to try various looks and see what looks perfect and good enough to post about. So this is one trial look that I have done using the Urban Decay Vice 2 palette and its shall be sans a tutorial.

This is just a random arrangement of colors (without any theme though I would call it Mechanical Peacock) and I just loved how it came through.......Let me share the colors and products that I used to create this look. (Its not a tutorial though)...

The Chanel Week : Joues Contraste blush in Rouge

Beautiful blushes or quirky colors don't last on the counters for long...We naturally get the product that fascinates our eyes and sometime products are just so irresistible...

This is what happened when Chanel launched this limited edition blush in Rouge. I somehow couldn't grab my hands on it (got late) but when it was relaunched, I made a point to run to Chanel and pick it up. Rouge looks like a strawberry - raspberry juice that is solidified and looks like a jelly that is poured into a pan, some edible gold glitter is added and the sold at Chanel (LOL)...This blush is could literally be eaten.

Do read about the fabulous Ultra Rose Blush here...

So lets see what's so great about this blush...............

The Chanel Week : Joues Contraste blush in Ultra Rose

Call it a 'rare entity'.....call it the rarer than the rarest rose.....its Chanel's Joues Contraste in Ultra Rose. At the beginning of a week of Chanel Joues Contraste aka JC blushes, I wanted to begin with this amazing color.

First of all, for those who didn't know what JC blushes are...............they are fabulous baked blushes in permanent and limited edition shades which are carefully baked in FRANCE and which look the most amazing when applied (my definition)....They do have US and Europe Versions which can be and are completely different when it comes to formula but that's Chanel's job to be bothered about. Ultra Rose was a limited edition blush that is/was rarely found and I am one of the lucky few (including Rashmi and Jigisha) who grabbed their hands on it. It looks appalling in the pan but there's more to it than what it looks like....

Lets see.....(Unfortunately I am not including the swatches as the blushes look very very different on my arm than my face. I hope you would understand....I'll try to explain).

Get the Glow Without the Shine

This is a post is for all those lovely people who have oily and acne prone skin and yet want to sport that ethereal glow on the face. Now the 'shine' and 'glow' are polar opposites and trust me people with oily skin end up looking greasy and patchy and all within a couple of hours. If you gone through this then this article is for you.

Lets get some knowledge on 'Oily' Skin.........

The Chanel JC Week

I am addicted to Chanel Joues Contraste Blushes and this is a very very recent addiction. Its like you cannot live without these...LOL...Thence to make the posts very interesting, I am planning a Chanel JC week which would be one of the very beautiful Chanel JC blush featured everyday (hopefully as the time permits).

Although you see only 3 blushes here, there are more to come. I have in total got 5 blushes - Orchid Rose, Pink Explosion, Frivole, Ultra Rose and Rouge. Now I need to complete the 7 by adding 2 more which I plan to be Rose Petale and In Love (for now, I shall see the colors and choose at the Chanel store as I am confused with Plum Attraction and Rose Tourbillon too). As far as India is concerned, the economy doesn't believe in buying blushes (shame) and thence at times one can find the rare and discontinued colors in Chanel JC Blushes which is a hit for me. Anyways, giving the rare ones a higher priority, I shall be going to the Chanel store to get the last 2 of them and complete the entire week.

Here's a Blush Feature Schedule (Tentative) -

  • Monday - Ultra Rose
  • Tuesday - Rouge
  • Wednesday - Orchid Rose
  • Thursday - Frivole
  • Friday - Pink Explosion
  • Saturday - Reflex
  • Sunday - Malice

Now if these interest you, do keep a watch over the Beauty Traveller as there's going to be a Chanel Explosion (for a while).

Which is your favorite Chanel blush? Any recommendations on the final 2 Joues Contraste blushes (I would not limit to '7' as I found out on the internet that people have an addiction for the JC blushes and there are a lot of avid collectors). DO let me know....

Till then,

Ciao

Review : Guerlain Rose Aux Joues Blush in Pink Punk

If someone has said that 'Beauty lies in the eye of the Beholder', I would change it to 'Beauty lies in the eye of a Guerlain holder"...........and I mean it. I literally shivered when I got my hands over Guerlain's Rose Aux Joues blush. This duo blush is simply heavenly and my mother has given her approval on it.

Lets have a looksie.........

Review : Guerlain Terracotta 4 Seasons Bronzer - 02 Brunettes

Are you the pale one? How about having a bronzer that works all seasons? This is a very unique concept brought by the house of Guerlain on having a matte bronzer that keeps you glowing and sun kissed all the year long (minus the hazards of the sun with SPF 10). I loved this concept as it gives one a scope to really use this product all year long although its a western concept.

Now, for those who do not know, Guerlain is the KING of Bronzers....its their blood, their DNA for makeup. Everything deals with a bronzer in the centre stage and how beautiful is that! They indirectly allow you to embrace the Sun...Now there are many many more uses of this fabulous bronzer and I shall tell them subsequently in the post...........

In the Garden of Elizabeth Arden

I have always been in love with Elizabeth Arden and now is the time to renew my vows with the brand. I call them as the unsung heroes of makeup as they have some fabulous products that do not get the recognition they should have got.

This article shall have a teaser and pictures of some amazing products Elizabeth Arden has launched and then I shall do a full fledged article on their 'Beautiful' color line. So lets have a look.

The new and revamped range under the wings of ace makeup artist Rebecca Restrepo has the most amazing and wearable colors ever. Talk about shimmery eyeshadows, lash enhancing mascaras, blooming lip colors, flushed up blushers, defining lip liners and lacquered glosses. They have an entire collection thats huge and everyone has something that could make them look iconic.

The mono and duo eyeshadows cover a range of shimmers and mattes and pearly shades that are very wearable and almost magical on application. I used them wet and rest was history....LOL. Pairing and layering them is best thing to do and I used the iconic Smokey eye pencils as a base to create some
wonderful looks.

I actually loved all the eyeshadows....they have such perfect metallic neutrals, beautiful midnight colors and some absolutely wearable purples and mauves.  It couldn't get better.

Although the blushers are coming soon, everyone must own the 'Tearose' blush from their current palette. This blush has the perfect rosy glow that would suit all complexions.

The Beautiful Color Red Door Lipsticks are simply amazing and so are the lip liners. They make such a wonderful pair. They are totally bedazzling and I cant think of any color that I wouldn't like. They feel like a lipstick which is long wearing and extremely hydrating and has a very unique balmy feeling. They are hard to resist.

I had represented the brand for a lovely event for the elegant and the chic of South Mumbai and it was a lot of fun. I hope you have seen the pictures on my face book page. My favorite products for that day were :
  1. Eyeshadows - Amethyst, Periwinkle, Shimmery Copper, Emerald, Midnight and Aqua Marine
  2. Ceramide Cream Blushes - Nectar and Honey
  3. Red Door Lipsticks - Red Door Red, Tropicoral, Beauty, Breathless, Wildberry, Rustic Red, Smoky Plum
  4. Lip glosses - Dulce, Diamond and Red Door Red
  5. Smokey Eye pencil - Espresso, Black
  6. Lash Enhancing Mascara - Black
I shall be visiting the brand to take some actual pictures of all my favorite products and posting them on the blog. Hope they inspire you.

Till then,

Ciao

Instagram Tuts!!! - Cafe Mocha meets Peaches and Cream

Lately I have been a bit non chalant about posting those lovely Instagram Tuts. Another reason is the reiterating of the makeup looks which makes the post uninspiring and to a certain extent boring. I created this beautiful cafe mocha latte look for Prerna (the eyes only) and an enviable dewy skin which needs to be spoken about.

This is a picture taken from my Sony Xperia ZR phone and the phone tends to make it look softer 'Auto' which I like. No editing has been done on this except writing the water mark so its a picture which is true to what it looks like. Now I also swear that I have used a lot and lot of products to get this perfect blend but I can guarantee that this look can be achieved with few products too. For the eyes you could actually see a lot of gradation happening and many transition colors too.

So lets see how to achieve this look...............

Randoms Acts of Makeup

With a few unsuccessful attempts which I owe to my extreme levels of tiredness, I did these 2 looks using the Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette and did complete injustice to all those beautiful colors in the palette. Thence just sharing the pictures of what I have done although I don't have a smidgen of confidence to post the tutorial.

Do have a look!!

Review : YSL Poudre Compacte Matte and Radiance Powder

YSL aka Yves Saint Laurent is one of those luxurious brands that you cannot resist. Let it be the packaging, the innovative products, technology and so on, YSL has never failed to entice their clients (Some products are duds though, but can be ignored).

Today I shall be reviewing the YSL Poudre Compacte Matte and Radiance Powder. It does look as if it was made in the heavens and then sent down for sales. Be it the sleek gold packaging, be it the soft airy breezy powder or be it the the luxury, YSL does deliver a uniquely fabulous product. I got myself the shade no.04 Beige Rose which is a perfect match for my skin.

So lets have a look..........................

Review : YSL Pure Chromatics Wet and Dry Eyeshadow Palette 'CITY DRIVE' Fall 2013 in CLASSY

My joy knew no bounds when I got the Arty and Classy eyeshadow palettes which was released for Fall 2013 by the house of Yves Saint Laurent. The 'Pure Chromatics' eyeshadows have been one of the highest performance eyeshadows I have ever owned and albeit certain colors I have used like the gold ones which tend to look a bit muddy.

So the classy palette is actually very classy with the most beautiful and scintillating neutrals paired with a very shimmery gun metal silver. Let's get to know a lot more about it.......
