Review : Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hr Blush

In today's article, I shall share a quick review of the famed Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hr blushes in 2 colors - Tipsy (coral) and Exposed (Nude). I bought the Tipsy one from Beautiful store in India at a humongous price that whatever one would get abroad, while the Exposed one was a part of Tarte's Amazonian Treasures. Its better to finish them both in the same review instead of splitting them...

Tarte is known for making these bright and beautiful blushes and I feel bad that I got one after such a long time. These long wearing blushes give the most aspired flush of a color which stays long and looks fresh and natural. Although the colors are very bright in the pan, they are a dream to work with since they from sheer to high impact as you build them up and literally melt into the skin.

So lets have a look at these two fabulous blushes...........

TIPSY

What Sephora Says......(Golden words of description)

What it is:
A long-wearing, solar-baked blush that lasts up to 12 hours.

What it does:
Infused with natural clay harvested from the banks of the Amazon River and naturally baked by the sun, this nutrient-rich blush benefits all skin types for a fade-free flawless finish for an amazing 12 hours. Inspired by Tarte's bestselling shades of cheek stains and lip tints, the colors range from soft to vivid to suit a wide variety of skintones. For oily skin types, Amazonian clay minimizes oil in and around pores to balance skin and keep product in place. Those with dry skin will benefit from the clay's nourishing and hydrating properties, which naturally restore skin's moisture. Combination skin types can rely on its ability to zero in on skin concerns and deliver benefits to restore complexion harmony. The result? Blush that wears better, longer, and truer!

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Petrochemicals
- Phthalates
- GMOs
- Triclosan

Suggested Usage:
-Using a blush brush, fan over the apples of the cheeks, blending along the cheekbone.

PACKAGING

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hr Blush comes in a transparent plastic casing with all the required information written on it. This is quite handy as it enables to identify the product within. The casing is also made up of plastic which  is color coordinated to look like the blush inside. I love the Tarte logo embossed on it and it all feels so dainty but not cheap. When opened, there is a good quality mirror large enough for you to see your cheeks. The blush is glued to the base of the casing and itself comes in a pan with embossing of the Amazon river and the jungles surrounding it. So cool, isnt it?

INGREDIENTS

Talc, Zinc Stearate, Tricaprylin, Polyethylene, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cera Alba, PEG-150 Distearate, Lanolin, Laureth-4, Tocopherol, Polysorbate 20, Tetrasodium EDTA, Potassium Sorbate, Chlorphenesin, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Kaolin, Tin Oxide, Mica, Carmine (CI 75470). (+/-): Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163), Red 6 And Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Red 27 Lake (CI 45410), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Yellow 6 Lake (CI 15985), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090).

FORMULA

-Vitamins A and E: Act as anti-inflammatory emollients and protect against free radical damage.
-Vitamin C: Fights free radical damage and prevents oxidative stress and premature signs of aging while brightening skin.
-Amazonian Clay: Reduces dryness and flakiness, improves skin clarity, elasticity, firmness, and texture while removing oil from the skin's surface for smooth application and wear.

The blush is definitely smooth to touch although a bit on the drier side due to the presence of talc and kaolin. But that doesn't affect the application or the holding power of the blush. When swatched, it does come out smoothly and is very well pigmented. Tipsy swatches as a fabulous satin finish and does have very very tiny micronized shimmer particles that help impart that satiny finish.

COLOR

Tipsy is a bright and a beautiful CORAL with a more orangey hue when you see it in the pan and a bit cooler pink that shows up only when applied on skin. Its a perfect color for the summer but metamorphoses into a lovely warmth when applied over bronzer. If you knew, these colors are also coordinated with similar cheek stains and when applied over them, give them the perfect 12 hr claim that Tarte cosmetics make.

APPLICATION

The blush is quite soft and brush tends to pick up just the right amount. It can easily be over done so a little bit of the blush goes a long way. However even after several uses, the embossing of the Amazonian river does not fade. I use a fluffy Real Techniques all over brush to get the beautiful flush of color and an angled Scott Barnes blush brush for precise application. Even buffing the blush under a medium coverage powder foundation works extremely well with me.

EXPOSED

I got this blush as a travel size in the limited edition Amazonian Treasures kit with a few other samples. This is an excellent way to try certain products which you may not be sure of when you look at them in their full sizes.

INGREDIENTS

Exposed

-Vitamins A and E: Act as anti-inflammatory emollients and protect against free radical damage.
-Vitamin C: Fights free radical damage and prevents oxidative stress and premature signs of aging while brightening skin.
-Amazonian Clay: Reduces dryness and flakiness, improves skin clarity, elasticity, firmness, and texture while removing oil from the skin's surface for smooth application and wear.

All shades contain:
Talc, Zinc Stearate, Tricaprylin, Polyethylene, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cera Alba, PEG-150 Distearate, Lanolin, Laureth-4, Tocopherol, Polysorbate 20, Tetrasodium EDTA, Potassium Sorbate, Chlorphenesin, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Kaolin, Tin Oxide, Mica, Carmine (CI 75470). (+/-): Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163), Red 6 And Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Red 27 Lake (CI 45410), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Yellow 6 Lake (CI 15985), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090).

FORMULA

This is more of a matte formula and does not have a smidgen of shimmer. It does feel very satiny to touch but goes on the skin as a flush of color that is natural and beautiful. I love how soft this blush feels though it is matte.

COLOR

Although Exposed is described as 'Nude'...its a perfect berry toned pink with subtle beige and brown tones somewhere in it. When applied it does give an innocent rosy, wind-swept appearance to the cheeks and looks extremely beautiful when applied alone or with a highlighter. This is one of the blushes that shouldn't be applied with a bronzer as it may almost melt into the color of the bronzer and not look that great then. Its almost universal color-wise and looks fabulous on all complexions. If you are extremely pale or so is your husband/boyfriend/EMA or anyone, this blush can perk up and bring some color to the complexion without looking like there's a blush on which is why it could be described as 'Nude'

SWATCHES

Just to sum up, Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hr blushes are fabulous products to use and one must own a couple of them if you get a chance.

Tarte is also selling the as a part of their holiday set on Sephora so if you want them, you know where you should look for them.

Hope you liked the review. These are some of the top most players in the Blush category and I believe one must give them a try. If you own Tarte blushes, do let me know in the comments which one are your favorites so that it inspires me to get some more colors too.

Till then,

Ciao
