I got some of these amazing amazing YSL Pure Chromatics eyeshadow palettes some days back and after a long time itch I am revealing them one by one. This quad no.04 is a special one as its inspired from the video of Mary Greenwell for Lisa Eldridge and she is one of the most respectable makeup artists I have ever known.
YSL Pure Chromatics eyeshadows are specially formulated formulas that can be used wet and dry. They are made directly into their pans (actually poured in them) and kept for drying literally so that the water evaporates and a strong pigment is left in the pan. You can see a glimpse of how these are manufactured in this French video which is really inspirational. The only unfortunate thing is that they dont make matte formulations. Maybe this has to do something with the manufacturing process though.
Anyways lets have a look.........
Encased in a rich luxurious packaging come these absolutely stunning and a bit uncoordinated yet very wearable eyeshadow colors. They are all frosted and pigmented and everything in the shimmer-glimmer side and can be used dry or wet. When dry, they create a fairy like aura around the eyes and when used wet they metamorphose into an intense metallic sparkle. What I discovered was, when applied wet first, they create a fantastic base and when layered dry over it, it gives me this magical effect that I always aspire for.
The colors are shimmery ivory, an aqua green, shimmery duo chrome medium lilac and a deepened plum purple. All of them are amazing and this quad certainly reminds me of 'Chinese Lotus Blossom' look. I had also done this look on Pray Arora (with whom I work so often) and she loved this whimsical array of colors that came out so well.
Here are 2 looks that I created with this palette exclusively and you would see these colors being incorporated in a lot of look later on too...
LOOK #1
YSL Pure Chromatics Palette in 04
YSL Pure Chromatics Palette in 04
I have used the fantastic YSL Faux Cils Mascara in Black to do this look...its so amazing. The colors look so metallic is because I have used them wet to create the base and then layered them dry for a magical finish.
LOOK #2
In this look I have used all the colors purely wet to see how metallic they can get. For the liner I used MAC Chromaline gel liner in Black Black. And of course 5 layers of the YSL Faux Cils mascara....
At the end of the day, this is a very amazing eyeshadow quad when it comes to pigmentation, pay off and wearability. Though this may not be for all who like soft shimmers and mattes as this is full on glimmer and quite bold for an eyeshadow. Best left to people who want to try colors and look prettier. I have 2 more eyeshadow quads to review and shall do them in the subsequent posts.
Hope you liked the post. Do let me know in the comments section.
Till then,
Ciao

DeleteI get to know about this palette after watching Mary Greenfell's tutorial, which I think it is so stunning, the model and the look she created. I tried to recreate it with the eyeshadows I have from MAC but I think I didnt get it right (since I wasnt able to find this palette to see it and compare myself)
ReplyDeleteI know you did this long time ago, (beautiful looks by the way :)) Is there any way that you could show dupes or similarities with other brands for these 4 colours? Thank you!
Ana
Thanks a lot for commenting.. Unfortunately there are no dupes for these colors as I even searched them myself. This is such a gorgeous palette and I have made immense use of it without finding any suitable colors for the same. I will try to find any and shall do a post...
