In the winter FOREST...........

Deep forest green smokey eyes are so mesmeric and magical. And sporting this eye makeup for winters is the next best thing you could do to yourself. Somehow this is the first time I got the greens that I desired and it did take me quite a long time to make a look that comes out exactly as I had depicted. When I sport greens, I get inspired from the Old Forests in Lord of the Rings by J R R Tolkien. The lush green foliage covered in hither thither snow during the beginning of winters is the inspiration of this look.

A dash of glitter mimics snow flakes and looks so pretty. Glitters should be used as less as salt and pepper and they can add a zesty flavor to any makeup look. Saying this, lets move on to the tutorial.............

Begin by concealing the under eye area with a good concealer to hide under eye darkness. Deep greens, navy blues, burgundies and purples accentuate under eye darkness. You can see how dark my under eye area looks in the final picture but do not get scared from the close up. From farther distance it looks quite hypnotic.

Trace and out line the inner rims and lash lines with Bourjois Khol and Contour 16 hr pencil in Ultra black. This is one of the richest and darkest black pencils ever and a celebrity favorite too.

While in the play time of the pencil. smudge the harsh edges to create smokiness with a pencil brush like Sigma E30.

With a Bourjois Clubbing Waterproof liner in Green (Vert) Insominak, make a thick line on the lower lash line. It need not be ultra defined but it needs to be thick.

With the same eye liner pencil apply color on the entire eye lid, just below the crease.

Blend this dark emerald liner into an emerald dusty daze with a fluffy Sigma E25 brush, up and above the crease. This enlarges the eye shape and diffuses the eye color. The pencil per se acts as a very good base for the eyeshadows and pigments to stick on.

With a flat brush like MAC 239 ( I used Shiseido Small eyeshadow brush), pat on MAC pigment in Forest Green (limited edition) only on the entire lid just at the natural crease. This is the most amazing part of this makeup.

From the Guerlain eyeshadow quad in Bronze Dore, apply the shimmery deep olive green shade on the outer corners with a dome shaped blending brush. I used Kryolan dome shaped brush for precise application.

Cover the entire crease with olive green eyeshadow. The coolness of the forest green and the subtle warmth of olive green create a lovely gradation and contrast at the same time due to the clash of two tones. Blend near the brow bone to make the eyes appear bigger. Smoke the Forest Green pigment on the lower lids too and diffuse the color for a dark aura.

From the same Bronze Dore Quad, apply the duo chrome apple green velvety color as shown in the picture. This color is so different and adapts to different tones so well. On warm tones it looks like light meadow green but photographs blue toned on cooler colors. I used MAC 217 to apply the color as a haze and accent.

From the same Bronze Dore quad, apply the Ecru cream highlighter under the brow bones with a fluffy BH cosmetics crease blending brush. Its good for diffused highlighting.

With the ring finger, dab some MAC Reflect Teal on the centre of lid. This glitter is like fairy dust and flies hither thither creating a magical effect.

Mix Alfa Silver Glitter (super cheap product from Crawford Market) with Illamasqua's Sealing Gel and with a thin flat brush (Kryolan flat liner brush) apply in the desired shape. I like it to look a bit exaggerated but you have your own discretion.

Curl the lashes with MAC eye lash curler and also tame the brows in place with a brown eyeshadow and some brow gel. Apply several coats of Clinique High Impact Extreme mascara for mesmerizing peepers. I didnt want to opt for false lashes to avoid the drag-like effect but you can do so if you like.

You can see, how a mere sprinkle of glitter makes the entire dark green look so lively and magical. Opt for a dewy skin, a cream blush like Stila Multiple in Peony and soft pink shiny lips. You can also go for beige pink lips for a muted touch and add on a dash of lip gloss. I made this look very magical by adding subtle touches of shimmer on the lips too (without exaggerating too much) while keeping the skin glowing and highlighted.
