Review : Estee Lauder Pure Color eyeshadow in Violet UnderGround

Presenting the ultra beautiful, uber gorgeous, scintillating and all the epithets that I could say, eyeshadow palette from the luxury brand, Estee Lauder. If you are aware of the new hybrid formulas that Lauder has launched then you may know of the Illuminating Gelees and pure color cyber eyeshadows. From the same family and for the Holidays 2012, Monsieur Tom Pecheux made a palette of colors that could be worn by any and in many many different ways. This is the first palette I have seen which is so universal and one can transit from a demure day look to a magical night makeup look.

Lets see what this is all about.............

Bride - The Reception

This is the last makeup of the chronicle. This was the reception that happened the next evening and with all tired and yet dancing and happy, this concluded the wedding. Megha is a really fun to work with and with no tantrums I could deliver my best.

For the reception makeup, it was decided to keep the look glowing and again subdued with hints of pinks and roses with a glowing skin. So lets see how to get this look.........

Bride makeup - the Brunch

Apologies for not updating the bridal makeup post. Since the pheras were in day light and the light was very very strong I could not take a good picture. Anyways this is the makeup I did for the brunch on the next day and headed home from the lovely Alibaug.

Lets come to the makeup......

Look of the DAY

I had fun while doing Pray's aka Prerna's makeup for one of the important corporate meeting. Since she has also done the look of the day post I thought of just writing a gist of what I used where as the description can be seen on her amazing blog.

You can read the how to achieve look here.............while I just enumerate the products used for the look......

Moscow Ball Room Inspired - The Russian Diva

I really apologize for not being to update my blog with good posts that are literally rattling on my computer to get into the world wide web. This is a Russian Ballroom themed makeup that I shall be doing for a while (2 more posts) and then begin with the Emerald Mojo for beginning of February. Also I have got an opportunity to write a guest post for MySkin.com which is such a honor.

This look is partly inspired by the czarinas and partly by one of the looks done by Misschevious on Youtube. The idea is to create a triangular and quite pointy smokey eye without being too sharp at the same time. I am sure you'll understand the complexity of this smokey eye after you see the tutorial. So lets have a looksie.........

Review : Guerlain Kiss Kiss lipgloss in Abricot Gourmand

I have so many lipglosses and other products to still review from Guerlain and I must apologize for falling short of time due to the bridal season and makeups to do. Anyways this is a picture of the glosses that I picked up from Guerlain and they are precisely 9 with 6 of them being Kiss Kiss Lipglosses and 3 being Terracotta Lipglosses.

I shall be reviewing them individually and they will appear randomly in between other posts.

In this post I shall be reviewing the lovely Abricot Gourmand shade which I really adored. Also since this is the first post I shall be talking about the ingredients and wont repeat the jargon in the forthcoming posts...

So lets see what this lipgloss is all about.......

I got 2 of these amazing limited edition quads from Guerlain called Velours D'Or. One for myself and one for the Giveaway.......and I am so excited to share the review since the announcement date of the Giveaway is coming so so so near.

Elegance and opulence is spelled by Guerlain when it comes to delivering a stunning product like this, in terms of packaging, formula and wear. Its great to have a brand who can relate to their star clients and give a stellar performance each time this product is used. So lets see what this mystery box contains....

Bride - Cocktail party makeup

This is the makeup that I did for Megha's cocktail party. It was a bit red carpet like with almost air brushed glowing complexion and lovely pop of color on the mouth.

So lets see how to do this look........

Bride Makeup - SANGEET

This is the look I did for the Sangeet. Just to tell you that the bride insisted that I do the most natural makeup with just a few nuances in the makeup. So this is not a typical bridal makeup that you would expect.

This picture of bride is taken by me and being my client I have all the freedom to talk about it. Since Megha has consented me on using the picture for the blog, I have moved further and shall be making a post out of it.

So lets see how I achieved this look...........

Bride on - Makeup Preps

I have done a lot of bridal makeups recently and I shamelessly admit that either I didn't have time to click the photos or else I forgot to take my camera with me. But with Megha (the bride featured), the story was completely different.

Since I had already done the trials, I exactly knew what I wanted to do and just got the products that we had planned to use for the entire 5 day bridal function. Although its on right now, I have got a day's break and my palms were itching to post the looks that I did yesterday and today.

Before I post the pic of the bride and the look that I did for her Sangeet, let me share the picture of the products I used. They are almost the same in all the looks as Megha wanted simple, clean makeup with a hint of color everywhere. Mind you that the flash exaggerated the colors but in natural and dim lights Megha did look like there was no makeup on.

This is all the makeup that I used.....see details and bridal makeup looks in the upcoming posts.....................

Moscow Ballroom Theme : Poetic Smokey Eyes

I was inspired by the Russian Ballroom dances and the extravaganza that happens during these dances. They are flamboyant and very alluring. Beautiful Russian women don their eyes with the most magical colors ever and their interspersing and intermixing of colors is splendid. So as an ode to the Moscow Ballroom theme, I shall be presenting a few looks that are iconic and inspiring.

Smokey eyes are something that would never go out of trend. Every time there is something new that gets conjured and designed and every time there is something magical that happens with smokey eye trend. I have been following the famous makeup artist Val Garland who is known in the industry for her dreamy smokey eye makeups and this poetic smokey eye is inspired from her works for Proenza Schouler.

This is a soft and sober, very mystical looking smokey eye and does enhance brown eyed ladies well. Its super quick, quite long lasting in terms of textures and color and very very scintillating.

The magical thing about this poetic smokey eyes is that it looks different when you keep the eyes open and changes colors when you blink or close your eyes. Thats the magnificent part. So lets have a look on how to create the smokey eye.........

Beauty Explorer : Haul of Fame

I forgot about the no makeup purchase except essentials promise and went ahead and shameless made a small haul of some irresistible products for the sake of blogging and also for using on a bride client.
I was dying to buy some branded eyeshadows for reviewing and using in tutorials as I was tired of MAC and BH cosmetics being featured again and again. Although some products from MAC are indispensible but where have the other brands gone is what I deeply felt. So giving MAC a break for time being (I don't remember last when I featured MAC eyeshadow LOL) and prodding the path of luxury brands I managed to pick up 2 of the most luxurious eyeshadows with the most amazing textures and again some makeup bag essentials too.

So lets see the HAUL now............

Review : Guerlain Meterorites Illuminating Pressed Powder

(Dream) While I was writing poetry sitting by the banks of a lovely river, something magical happened. Suddenly the bustling of the winds stopped, rustling leaves mellowed, the air smelled of some magical aroma and suddenly there was a blinding flash........I was totally in trance after I saw someone approaching me. She wasn't someone I knew from the realm of the earth. She was a mystical being. "Nerita" she introduced me in the sweetest hypnotic voice ever. She told me that she was a water-nymph. Even in the deep rivers and seas, they have read Beauty Traveller.I was zapped when she said that and couldn't help blushing. She offered me this magical powder made from minerals, inspired by the pearls from the sea. She told me to use it and cherish it as a memoir from his friends from the mer-world......

and suddenly I woke up from the dream and remembered that I have to write about Guerlain's Meteorites Illuminating Pressed Powder in Nacre Des Mers...so lets see what this magical powder is all about....

Review : Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick in Pinky Boop

Guerlain's Kiss Kiss Range of lipsticks give the smoothest feeling lips ever and I feel one should refrain from making any comparisons with any brands about it. Guerlain, the French luxury cosmetics house is the only brand I know that reformulates and brings in so many products at a time. If normally a company got in a wave of products (like Maybelline or so), Guerlain would bring in a tsunami. And each product is so covetable and amazing that one can stop the addiction.

BY THE WAY, I HAVEN'T MENTIONED IN MY GUERLAIN REVIEWS ABOUT THE FRAGRANCE IN EACH PRODUCT. EACH PRODUCT HAS A LUXURIOUSLY SMELLING FLORAL PERFUME WHICH SPEAKS ABOUT BOUDOIR AND ROYAL WAYS OF DRESSING (ALL THANKS TO GUERLAIN'S HERITAGE OF CREATING PERFUMES FOR THE ROYAL DYNASTIES). SO KINDLY NOTE THIS.

So reviewing the lovely Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick in Pinky Boop......a color that brings back the memoirs of best springs ever (even in winters)........let see....

Beauty Explorer - THE MAKEUP WISH LIST

I solemnly promise that I will never do a 'no buy month' after so many things that are happening around. While we roll ourselves in the fluffy blankets and sit besides the fireplace (not all though) and drink a warm mug of hot cocoa (LOL, the mug is warm and the cocoa is hot) brands have started releasing their Spring/Summer collections.

I dont know whether I should call it branding or it is desperation that the brands have to launch their collections so early. But none of these bother me and I am happy that I can get a glimpse of what I should take for Beauty Traveller for Spring 2013 and find another reason to be happy. Btw I would be helping and assisting my friend Prerna to start her new and utterly interesting blog called Work, Beauty and Pray. She is a celebrity, a multi talented personality with a flare for beauty and shopping and the reviews on luxury brands, hauls and looks that we would share would carve a niche in luxury makeup world.

Anyways lets see what entices me this Spring Summer (not all products were launched in Spring Summer though)............

Review: Guerlain Rouge G Le Brillant lipstick in Bridget

Although I had quoted of not reviewing this lipstick since its been used a lot by my mother, but since the color is so enticing, I couldn't resist it. This is one of the most breathtaking lipsticks I have ever purchased and although it looks so mundane and boring in the packaging but one application and the magic begins.

I have reviewed a few of these lipsticks like Gala and Grenade. This is Guerlain Rouge G Jewel compact Le Brillant lipstick in BRIDGET and one of the glossiest lipsticks ever....Let see something about this lipstick...

Review : Guerlain Blush 4 Eclats in Nuit D'Ete

Reviewing another lovely blush I picked up from Guerlain, called Nuit D'ete which means 'summery nights'. Although I would use this blush for all seasons and all times, I am amazing at how Monsieur Olivier Echaudmaison depicts the summery glow. Imagining the transformation of sun kissed and a slightly sun burnt glow into a night time party or just a date, Nuit D'ete is a blush that would epitomize romanticism like this.

I have done my first preview of the Guerlain Blush 4 Eclats in Rose Plein Vent and one could consider it as a proto-type post to understand the packaging et al. So lets see how the blush looks like...........

Wearable Winter Chic..

As an inspiration to this amazing wintry nights and the parties that happen around, I wanted to create a simple sultry and glowing taupe eyes. To match the nude fleshy toned shimmers or in fact contrast them and to add a playful touch, I opted for a midnight teal eye liner instead of the conventional black and believe me, the effect was hypnotic.

When a line is used in such looks, they can get a bit vampy. Sans liner, this makeup looks angelic and divine with a slightly boudoir edge to it. So lets see how to get this wearable winter chic look.......

Review - Clinique Chocolate Raspberry Lipstick

\
I had picked this lipstick before bidding adieu to my Clinique job and was completely nonchalant about its existence until I found it in the kit the other day (exhumed old cosmetics). Since I had planned a post that never happened and had swatched the lipstick before, it may look old but its truly unscathed.

So presenting a small quick review of Clinique Long last lipstick in 45 Chocolate Raspberry.

Beauty Explorer - What I ultimately hauled!! UPDATED

If you have noticed, Beauty Traveller is under the process of revamping. I am choosing vintage inspired palettes and styles and banners as they look so colorful and amazing and take me back into the days of the golden era where things were bright and people were cool and less stressed.

The iconic drawings, splash of color and the extravaganza of florals and shapes is what appeals me for this year..................
Anyways with the apt name of Beauty Traveller, I am visiting the Palladium Mall to meet and greet a few of my lovely friends and intend to pick up some stuff of which I am going to create a wish list here...so do keep reading...........

In the winter FOREST...........

Deep forest green smokey eyes are so mesmeric and magical. And sporting this eye makeup for winters is the next best thing you could do to yourself. Somehow this is the first time I got the greens that I desired and it did take me quite a long time to make a look that comes out exactly as I had depicted. When I sport greens, I get inspired from the Old Forests in Lord of the Rings by J R R Tolkien. The lush green foliage covered in hither thither snow during the beginning of winters is the inspiration of this look.

A dash of glitter mimics snow flakes and looks so pretty. Glitters should be used as less as salt and pepper and they can add a zesty flavor to any makeup look. Saying this, lets move on to the tutorial.............

Review : Guerlain Rouge G De Guerlain Lipstick in GALA

When luxury meets innovation and practicality, a product is created that has a heft price but worth each and every penny paid for. Presenting the award winning Guerlain Rouge G De Guerlain lipsticks which are gorgeous formulas, splendid colors and moreover come with a compact case that has a mirror that pops open every time you desire to apply the lipstick.

I got 6 shades viz, Grenade, Gwen, Gala, Galia, Geisha and a Le Brillant shade named Bridget. Shall be reviewing them soon except Bridget as it already got used. They are all 3.5 g and come in a same format of a compact case with mirror and lipstick inside. Most of them are reds and hues of reds as these were the colors I was lacking in my kit and what would be better than Guerlain to blabber about. The thought, the price and the lipstick may make these colors only restricted to blogging for few months and then I would muster the courage to move on and use them in my work vanity case. I wish I had the finances to pick up all the shades as each and every shade is drool worthy.
Today I will be reviewing the shade named 'GALA'. Please note that subsequent posts that follow will have only a brief review of the lipstick and would not involve any notations on packaging and all the other brouhaha. I generally do not review products that are common and even after buying a lot of makeup stuff very few like these make up into the reviews. In case you would want me to review a lot more stuff that I get please do comment about it (its quite motivating and inspirational you know).

So lets know more about the Rouge G..............

Review : Guerlain Noir G De Guerlain Exceptional Complete Mascara in Noir

I mustered the guts to pick up the most expensive mascara in the world and I can't say how amazing it. Guerlain's Noir G De Guerlain Exceptional Complete Mascara is not just a mascara, its a treatment for lashes and a treatment for being a makeup junkie. At a whopping price of 3300 INR it delivers the best of all what one can expect and happens to be the first mascara in the entire world that comes with a 'refill' so that you do not have depart with the fabulous casing and be happy as long as you can be.

So presenting the mascara of the year (for me), GUERLAIN NOIR G DE GUERLAIN EXCEPTIONAL COMPLETE MASCARA..............lets see..........

Angel eyes....

I wanted to start the new year with tutorials that are a bit more demure and less dramatic. Since I could resist the latter, I ended up doing just one look demure and beautiful angelic look for the beginning of the new year.

This is a soft wide eyed look and just looks perfect for a day occasion. This is more of a photoshoot type look but can be done by anyone with small eyes to awaken them up. Even the colors are very soft and light (imagine a green peas with cream soup green color) and looks like you have had a perfect 8 hrs of beauty sleep after a tiring 31st Dec 2012 party.

So lets see how to do this simple and angelic look........
