Review : Clarins Face Treatment Oil - LOTUS ---> Oil for an OILY skin

For those who have read the title, they have read it right. This is a rebalancing oil which is meant to take care of combination to oily skin and show dramatic changes in just a few uses. For those who have read my posts on BEST BUYS must have seen this product being mentioned in it and after a couple of samples and lot of research and thinking I finally got to get this amazing product and it has become a staple in my skin care regimen at night.

So presenting the Clarins Face Treatment Oil LOTUS - Price 2150 INR (purchased from Shoppers stop, authentic Clarins outlet in the country)

Well, who doesn't crave for a normal, healthy, glowing skin and bedazzling complexion? I do (even if no one does..LOL). Who doesn't want their childhood traumas of greasy skin and a battalion of pimples leave them at least when they have become adults (I Do)? Who doesn't want people to see the youthful radiance in the skin which cannot be masked by unhealthy thick layers of stickiness and grime?

The Winter Rose

This is a very soft, cool toned muted eye look for Fall/Winter with emphasis on making the eyes look really soft and beautiful. I named this look winter rose as the cheeks and lips get a rosy tint and compliment the eyes. I have used Pat McGrath's method of applying two tone mascaras and it really looks different when looked closely.

I have used the Flirt cosmetics Holiday eyeshadow palette which I bought from Strawberrynet.com to do this look. It has all colors to depict the Winter season and I love them as they look so incredibly soft and muted. Its not necessary to always have superbly pigmented eyeshadows. Sometimes a bit of powdery effect helps create soft muted eyes.

Bedazzling eyes - Purple and Antique Gold

This is another experimental post (which means sans tutorial) to actually try out the Maybelline Falsies Lash mascara. I have featured the mascara in previous posts too and will review it soon along with the Hyperglossy liner soon. Quite intriguing products though.

I also had ordered this Flirt cosmetics eyeshadow palette long back from Strawberrynet and took sometime to bloom and realise what a fantabulous product it is. So sharing the pics too. I can understand that this look is not too clean and properly done and not as refined as some of the looks on the blog but please bear with it.

Turquoise Flame

This is a classic blue turquoise look which is omnipresent throughout the ear and everyone comes out with a different version of theirs. Since it is so shimmer packed and tantalizing, I wanted to put it as a Holiday look for Winter 2012. Those hither thither silvery sparkles in the entire eye makeup look very amazing (unfortunately not captured in camera).

This is a lovely and an extremely easy look to pull and looks pretty on all. So lets see how to do this look......

The Bride Prep - Getting the BASE right!

Today's article highlights the method of applying foundation and looking stunning at your wedding. It would also contain pointers from what I have learnt from my own experiences as well as from the mouth of the pros.

As read in one of the previous posts, getting the right BASE is actually a challenge. Its not as easy as is daily application of foundation for work or shopping. Plus there are many people involved unnecessarily to create havoc in the  makeup and hair (unless the bride shoos them away) and its a place of pandemonium.. In such circumstances mistakes can happen and as known mistakes for the wrong base are photographically unpardonable. The tips that I am sharing today are basically from learning and understanding makeup and following amazing makeup artists in India as well as globally to master the technique.

What I discussed here may not be foolproof and I have tried to give the best possible ways to get the BASE sorted. So lets see how to get the base RIGHT..........

Review : Kryolan Ultra Foundation Palette - OLIVE

This is a review of one of the best foundations I have ever used. What a mistake I made for not knowing or not acknowledging even after knowing, that this foundation was so so so so good. You want a flawless perfection, transparent looking skin and super model like glow, then here is one of the answers that I present to you.

Artemis and the Winter Solstice

For some nicest possible reasons my post on Moon Goddess Artemis have got the largest number of hits and I thought it would be nice to talk about Her time over time as she is not only the goddess I adore but also she is talented and strong. If anyone is aware Goddess Artemis is the sister of God Apollo (Sun God) in Greek Mythology. She is known to be a warrior goddess and is worshiped by the night. She and her team of huntresses have tracked down and destroyed a many number of monsters and she is very amazing in all sorts. I dedicate these posts to Her and how she could adorn the moon lit skies while making an impression at the Winter Solstice in Mount Olympus (meeting of God in Winter).

Unfortunately I could not shoot a tutorial of this metallic silvery-purple-charcoal smokey eye because I was really looking sick and even had an eye infection (yet I managed to put in the liner just for the post). So in that case I literally cut out the colors from the BH cosmetics 88 shimmer palette I used and put them as a collage on the last picture. Hope you appreciate this method sometimes too.

Modernized Old Hollywood eyes

I wanted to do a modern take on old school Hollywood eye makeup by replacing the black liner with a bright looking brown liner. I love leather and tan colored liners that are browns with a bit of red in them. They can accentuate the eyes and make them look amazingly darker in color. This is the simplest makeup one can do when in rush and is something that can be done by all.

Drew Barrymore is the inspiration for this look and see how soft and muted it looks yet creates an aura around her.

Glowing Smokey Eyes

While testing the Kryolan Ultra Foundation in DO (Dark Olive) to hide my under eye circles. Thats not my color and you can already see that it has added some extra depth in my already deep under eye contours. But since that was the only shade I bought and while I am impressed with the way this foundation looks on skin, I am going to feature the entire palette soon with a review.

Anyways since I was trying this foundation, I also tried a soft glowing light cool green silvery smokey eye with the hazed out liner that I have been raving about all this while on my FB page. So sorry that I did not do a tutorial on this but shall do if anyone requests.

Lets see how to do this look...........

Hauled Again!!

I sometime share the hauls I do and I think its fun (although there's no point flaunting all this especially when you are in the makeup industry and a pro makeup artist too). There are many many products that I got but due to some emergency bridal stuff had to use almost 1/3rd of stuff and thence did not picture them. I shall mention the products that I used for bridals (I am too lazy to remove them out of the vanity which is separate for bridal works) and that are brand new. Also in the pictures there are few products that might end up as GIVEAWAYs so do keep waiting.

This is not the haul (LOL). This is just one hexagonal eye I did for time pass and that too on bare skin without any concealing n all.........

Festive Season looks #5 - Quick Smokey eye

This is a quick take on doing a last minute smokey eye when you are in a hurry and not much time left in the Diwali celebrations. If done with absolutely no trace of precision then this smokey eye can be literally achieved in 3 minutes and yet look mysterious and bedazzling.

These are generally the looks sported by a lot of stars when they have to do their own makeups and rush for an event. Also I need to mention that the purple color from the shadow wasn't captured the way I wanted and in person it looks much more glamorous that in the pictures.

Anyways, lets see how to this ultra easy smokey eye.....

Festive Season Looks #4 - New Beetles

This look is inspired from the Fall 2012 fashion shows where brands like Roberto Cavalli and Prabal Gurung we inspired from the wings of beetles and feathers of the birds of paradise. Thanks to the legendary works of  makeup maverick Pat McGrath, Charlotte Tilbury and Val Garland, there are an array of looks using such amazing interplay of duo chrome colors with a metallic tinge.

This version is an adaptation of some of these amazing looks that would be making trends for the entire winter season and you will be amazed to see a lot of looks being featured on Beauty Traveller and some incredible makeup blogs out there.

Festive Season Looks #2 Chocolate Smokey eyes - Charlotte Tilbury Inspired

Inspired from the amazing works of Charlotte Tilbury, a makeup maverick and makeup artist to the stars, this is a simple smokey eye that can create a magnanimous statement if paired with a bright lip and a lovely attire.

Most of the runway inspired looks that Charlotte does in association with MAC and other brands for fashion shows in Paris, Milan, New York and London are about creating a chocolate-y smokey eye this fall season. She has done the same thing in a video she did for Lisa Eldridge and on her own blog too.

Festive Season Looks #1

At last I am back from that lacuna of a month where everything was topsy turvy. The internet connection had become a disaster (thanks to the sudden and uninvited funny rains that happened in October), personal issues had to be sorted and of course not to forget WORK!! Been super busy with bridals and trials and all and in the mean while could only conjure just 3 posts in October.

Secondly it might be late but I must congratulate JASMINE for winning the Giveaway and I am so happy she liked it. Next Giveaway to come soon and although I would call it a Diwali Giveaway it shall be over by Christmas....LOL

Today's post is all about creating a 'round' eye when the whole world wants to go for cat eyes.....its a bit whimsical but this is one makeup look that would suit only a few (unless one is experimental). I think you would relate to this type of liner only when you see round eyed actors like Urmila Matondkar who carry this so well and look ultra glamorous. I know that the shape of the eye matters too but this is one makeup that adds a touch of glam and innocence to the makeup look.

So lets see how to this look..........
