5 Must Buys : PINK
I may not know what are you thinking this spring but I am thinking PINKS and CORALS and all the shades that come in between. May it be opalescent pinks or shimmery salmons or carrot oranges, there are fresh hues this season for all to explore. I have always been a fan of mother of pearl like sheen on the skin (which I am able to obtain with MAC Mineralize Duo blush in Hanging Loose) and if anyone has ever read my Artemis goddess post they will know why I do so. I have got more than 5000 hits for that single post and its the most famous article of my blog right now.
So here's my list of 5 essential and beautiful pink shades that are must haves this season. .....(maybe more and maybe listed in a sequel)
Strokes of the Sky!
As a part of 'Into the Blue' series, I wanted to offer a platter of blues in various styles and wearable forms. Blue is not an everyday color to wear and may not be appropriate for certain occasions but this is an attempt to get people using that blue eyeshadow lying in the corner of their bag.
In this post I am depicting a blue that is subtly washed across the lids. This is an easy to look to do and can be done using any soft pastel color. This is a look that can be sported at any occasion and looks trendy throughout the year.
For day wear I would recommend subtle washes of shimmery beige or soft gold on the lids, with minimal contouring, only if needed and lots and lots of mascara. I preferred using same colored liner as eyeshadow to make things even more beautiful and not create stark contrasts.
So here are strokes of sky...........
Lets see how to do this look.........

5 Must buys for MARCH
March calls for launch of most of Spring Summer products but I am not planning to go the conventional way and buy limited edition stuff this time. I don't completely say that I am against limited editions but this time I am not so fascinated with anything.
The must buy guide for me this month is a mish mash of brands and drugstore stuff....

A day with soft blues!!
Blue as what everyone wears or dreams of wearing is a dramatic, bold, statement kind of blue. But there are also ones out there who wear a subtle blue to work or a meeting and look elegant. What I love is how a serene soft blue makes brown eyes appear incredibly chocolate-y and alluring.
Clinique is world wide known for their softer and muted versions of bright color that makes these colors universally acceptable and wearable. Whether its a blue or purple, a soft smokey eye goes really effortless with such muted colors. I have used Clinique's Color Surge Quad eyeshadow in Polar Blue to do a soft breezy smokey eye for every day. Since I have used a lighter hand the colors are more muted and blend seamlessly to create a gradation.
These blues instantly wake up tired eyes and add a bit of freshness to face. Lets see how to do this look.......

Cobalt Cat!!
This color may not be truly cobalt but the alliteration sounded good thats why the name. This is essentially the easiest way to don a bright blue and look dramatically different. This is stylish, sophisticated and more importantly easy and quick.
The cat's eye flick is one of the trendiest makeup looks and everyone looks perfectly done with cat's eye. With the black not being necessary and just used in mascara to create a contrast, this look is wonderful. I am planning to make versions of cat's eye liner in various versions of pinks, reds, greens etc. and this happens to be one of them.
Layering a clear frosted blue eyeshadow over a similar colored eye liner with a darker blue or purple liner as a lowlights creates this dramatic look.
Lets see how to do it!

5 Must Buy Guide for FEB
I hope anyone remembers this post (including me) and since March is on its way let me write on what haul I did!! It will be in the same post in colored fonts.
As a Beauty Traveller, I take my job seriously and sometimes splurge more than I can to get makeup for my stash of for professional usage. Every month when I plan a budget to buy some stuff it always fails and I end up buying lot more.
This is a small post with 5 must buy products that I would be writing every month (hopefully) and see how many I bought in the end of the month....(so another post to do)
I will let you know what all I bought from this list by the end of the month......What are your must buy products this month?
Thats all I bought this month. Lets see what happens in March. I have been strictly told not to buy anything more and save money. Hope it works

Chanel Tweed Blush in Brun Rose............I hope they still have it in stock and I have been eyeing on this blush since sometime. If thats not there I might end up buying the regular Tweed Rose with a review coming soon.Bad people have increased the prices so the question of Feb budget is itself out of question so not making promises. I may get some complexion perfector from Clarins. I got samples of Instant Light Complexion Pefector while I bought nothing from them this time. I like the 00 shade for its rosy pink hue that brightens up complexion. This can look grey on darker skin tones though. For them I recommend 01 shade. Complexion perfectors can be used under foundation to create a luminous base or applied over foundation to bring in light and subtle highlights.- Revlon Expressionist Luxurious color eyeshadows that I saw on Wiseshe and made up my mind to get that amazing pearlescent plum called Plum Galaxy. I got this thanks to Anamika who were kind enough to write a post on this. With that in mind I and Rashmi got this shade.
- Couple of Chambor Ultraglide pencils and Dazzle liners as the colors are amazing and Chambor has been a late discovery but was worth the effort. I got my favorite purple one and a black one that was the first liner of mine that ever got over. I also got NYX Retractable liner in Blue eyes and Bourjois Clubbing liner in Turquoise blue. Very amazing for this spring.
- Revlon Grow Luscious mascara for a friend. I hope it comes in a waterproof formulation. It creates lovely lashes but is not at all waterproof and runs with immediate contact of water. This mascara gives luscious natural looking lashes by adding subtle length. I loved this mascara and used it in this post.
One Chanel brush as this is the only brand from which I dont own a brush.- I also got 3 palette from BH cosmetics, Revlon Lash Fantasy mascara, Urban Decay Naked 2 palette reviewed here and Edward Bess Bess lash mascara.
- Got couple of stuff from Oriflame including Beauty wonder lash intense mascara and crease brush which is ridiculous of course when priced at 79INR.
Thats all I bought this month. Lets see what happens in March. I have been strictly told not to buy anything more and save money. Hope it works

About ME!! 'Knowing Beauty Traveller ;)
Tutorial coming soon on eye makeup!
Abstract makeup!!!
Its been 5 years on and off that I wrote on Beauty Traveller. As a blog I must say my growth has been slow and stagnating due to years that passed uninspired and job that took away the essence of creativity from my soul.
After 4 hrs of travelling up and down to work and 9 hrs odd of job, blogging was the last thing in my mind. I had to devote time for treatments of my ill father and that took a lion's share of my priorities those days (it would have remained if he was still with us even now).
Life isn't a fairy tale for all but everyone does have their story to tell! This is my voice. Being in the beauty blogging world one ends up trying to lay hands on the latest products in the market, review them asap for people to educate them or even flaunt their stash, create beauty hauls to reveal their purchasing powers etc. but no one ever tells their story (someone in this world would be interested to read). Like beautiful mountains far off, blogging looks like glitterati and glam. With people spending sleepless nights to get their blog noticed, I was a late bloomer......
This is my story, my interview with myself.....A Q&A with myself (Dr. Neeraj A asking questions to Dr.Neeraj B)....

Smokin' Blues.....
For this look I was inspired by late night pubs and parties. The rock chic girls pairing strong eyes with bright lips. Of course this look can be made demure as necessary. I love the way this smokey eye diffuses from a dark core towards the lighter outsides.
Lets see how to do this look!

Got to HAUL this!
I maybe be shy about showing my vanity case which is or rather are always overflowing with products. I do not generally haul because I feel its unnecessary especially showing products that are limited editions. But soon I will be writing reviews on products that I feel are relevant.
I had to haul this because these products really blew my mind with their quality and amazing array of colors they had. These are the BH cosmetics eyeshadow palettes that I collected over sometime and am a proud owner now.
Lets have a look!

Sophistiqué le maquillage de l'oeil bleu pour soir
This translates into 'Sophisticated Blue Eye Makeup for Evening' and I wrote it in French to add some panache and ornamentation. This is a glamorous version of perfect evening smokey eyes that can be done with just 4 eyeshadows (unbelievable but true).
Anyways, certain blues are too bright for day use and the evening lights mellow them a bit. Since bright blues like these that also have jewel tones can overpower eye makeup its important to balance them with an added bit of warmth on the face.
Inspired from Glam Rock Chic look in Versace's earlier fall/winter looks and an easier version of Rodarte's fall look with NARS, I conjured my own version.

Into the BLUE
This week on and off I decided to do posts on 'Blue' eyeshadows and create some wearable versions of this bright and beautiful color.
Blue has always been a hit and miss color for most of us since we don't use it that often. At least I and a couple of blogger friends are there who keep on buying similar versions of blue and its brethren and use it maybe once in a year and talk lots about it and then forget. This is because the color is not so flexible to wear and doesn't come anywhere in 'nude' kinds of makeup.
In the future posts I wanted to pay an ode to this famous color and create uber chic easy looks that could be done by all. BLUE as a color itself is PRIMARY hue on the color wheel. Mix it with YELLOW and it give GREEN and mix it with RED it gives PURPLE. Being the only 'Cool' primary color it adds a perfect harmony to balance the warmth not only in nature but in our existence too.
As a representative of the element WATER, in the world of beauty and makeup, BLUE is known for being bright and bold with no one actually prodding the vulnerability of this color (not much of advertising). Though being a cool, BLUE could be made warm by adding GOLD and it may not be my favorite combination but I have used blue with gold in some posts. Ornamented with catchy names like Azure, Lapis lazuli, malachite, cobalt etc I have always been a fan of a lot of blues and have many in my stash of makeup (which I never boasted or bragged about but you have seen a glimpse of).
In the 'Into the BLUE' series I would be incorporating various looks using blues and various versions of shades, tones and tints of blue. This may or may not include other versions where the pure hue of blue is gone but I promise to include these colors in different other posts or series.
Here's a glimpse of blue makeup that I am trying to create for this series......
There are more looks that are in the process of editing and posting. Hope you would like the looks that I created. Please remember that this series like Enchanted night would be making on and off appearances.
Till then,
Ciao

When blue meets anthracite.
Transitions of navy.
Inspired by a Pixiwoo video although the look came out to be cooler than intended. LOL
My favorite look.

Mauve et Bronze!!
I love to do atypical combinations and felt that a pink-mauve would look amazing when paired with a fresh bronze. To do this look I couldn't think of any palette except BH cosmetics 88 Tropical shimmer palette that has some of the most magnificent colors that may not be available as a single color in any brand.
The funny part of BH cosmetics is that their palettes do not have many repeated colors and each has an individualistic hue that may not be seen in other palette. I dont deny the fact that there are no repetitions but they are less compared to other palettes.
Another factor that attracted me to BH cosmetics is that the colors hold on so well and glide as smooth as butter which shows that the fillers are less. They have mineral oil (some schools say its good and some say its bad) which maybe doing the favor of making these eyeshadows glide better. The shimmer formulas have negligible fallouts although this is very subjective.
BH Cosmetics Tropical Shimmer Palette
have used lots of shimmer based colors to open up the eyes and make them light and floaty. Have also tried to not use dark liners on the upper lids to keep the look easy and breezy.
Lets see how to create this mauve bronze look..........

After Edward Bess replied to my twitter chatter I was so inspired to write about this amazing young man.
He has not only won the hearts of the fashion world with his gorgeous looks as a model but also heart of every girl (beauty fanatic) with his amazing range of eponymous cosmetic line Edward Bess Cosmetics. A venture started with him consulting his sisters and mom on makeup looks to his decision to have some incredible colors in his first Lip Wardrobe kept the beauty world enthralled.

Spring - Summer TRENDS
Fresh looking complexions bathed in the warm cozy sunlight with a bit of windswept cheeks and glowing skin is what everyone aspires for every spring-summer season. Every year almost all brands follow certain trends that are forecasts of certain companies like Pantone and there are innumerable products crowding the market. Since everyone had their trend, I thought of making some trends with Beauty Traveller too.

Simple phrase 'No makeup look' means a lot this season too. So lets see how to prep the skin this spring-summer 2012...

Look of Love!!
This is the last look for Valentine's day from Beauty Traveller. I have been travelling and a bit busy which did not allow me to do all the looks that I had planned. Anyways I hope everyone has a lovely evening.
HAPPY VALENTINE's DAY
Start by priming the eyes with an eye primer.
Define the crease gently with a medium toned greyish brown. This acts as a stencil to place other eyeshadows and enables one to know where their crease should be.
Highlight the brow bone and inner corners with a warm beige shimmery eyeshadow.
Trace the upper lash line with a charcoal black eye pencil and smudge it into the lash line. This makes lashes appear bigger, fuller and really beautiful.
Smudge the liner on the outer half of the lower lid too. Define and blend the outer corners and crease with a shimmery plum-purple eyeshadow.
Apply a shimmery soft peach on the lids. Tame the brows with a brow gel.
Apply lots of mascara on the top and bottom lashes
Products used : -
- Shiseido Advanced Hydro liquid compact.
- Shiseido Natural Finish Creamy concealer
- Too Faced Shadow insurance primer
- Stila eyeshadow in Wheat
- MAC eyeshadow in Remotely Grey
- Stila eyeshadow in Kitten
- Revlon Expressionist Eyeshadow in Plum Fantasy
- Bourjois Effet Smokey liner in Ultra black
- MAC Brow Gel
- Clinique Blushing blush in Smoldering plum
- Clinique Long last lipstick in Chocolate Raspberry.
- Clinique High Impact Mascara
I hope you enjoy your Valentine.

K.I.S.S of date!
Keeping it simple and sophisticated, this time for Valentine's day its about the looks that are not very overpowering and are very simple and sober. This tutorial is inspired by lovely ladies from Europe who believe in minimalism as a key to beauty. No liner no drama....just some eyeshadows and lots of mascara.
Prime the lids with eyeshadow primer.
Faintly define the crease with a brown grey eyeshadow to create a stencil. This enhances the shape of the eye and helps gauging the placement of other crease shadows for enhancment.
Dust a soft mauve grey eyeshadow on the lid. This immediately brightens and lifts any signs of fatigue.
Apply a bright pastel reddish pink in the crease and blend softly in the mauve and towards the brow bone.
Highlight with a wheat colored shimmery beige eyeshadow on the brow bone and in the inner corners.
Softly define the outer lash line with a black eyeshadow. Also apply mauve on the lower lid and smoke it out.
Tame the brows with a brow gel. Curl lashes and apply mascara primer to get voluptuous lashes.
Apply 2-3 coats of darkest black mascara on the top and bottom lashes.
This is the finished look. Hope you like it.
PRODUCTS USED
- Estee Lauder Illuminating base
- MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 foundation
- Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer
- Kryolan Transparent powder
- Clinique Fresh bloom all over color in Peony
- NARS Pro Prime Smudge proof eyeshadow base.
- MAC Remotely Grey
- MAC Sushi Flower
- MAC Illegal Cargo
- Stila Wheat
- Urban Decay Black out
- Revlon Lash Fantasy mascara in Blackest Black
- MAC Brow Gel
- Clinique Buttershine lipstick in Parisian Red
- Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipgloss in Garnet
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Its an easy look for Valentine's day and can be done by anyone to brighten up the day. Choose darker colors in the same family as the skin color goes darker to compliment and brighten up your eyes.

KISS of makeup PART 2
This is the intensified look of the previous look that I forgot to put and decided to make another post as it may go unnoticed. I have just darkened the eyeshadows to make it more smokey and apt for evenings.
To make it smokey I dusted a deep red wine eyeshadow in the crease. There was a lot of blending which made the eyeshadow lighter. Then there is a deeper brown purple on the outer corners and extra coats of mascara to create smoldering effects. The inner corners were highlighted with an ivory shimmer to bring light in all this intensified wines and mauves.
Hope you like the second part too.
Till then,
Ciao

K.I.S.S of makeup!
Kiss may have many meanings but for me it also means 'Keep it simple and sophisticated.' As a part of the Valentine's look I present you classic eyes with mauves and browns. I have used my lovely BH Cosmetics 28 Neutral eyeshadow palette reviewed here.
FACE
- Stila One step foundation to be used as primer, concealer, foundation and powder all in one. Sheer wash is the foundation while concentrated application is the concealer. They dry up to a soft pwoder finish.
- Shiseido Accentuating Stick in Rosy Flush
- MAC Powder blush in Gana
LIPS
- Shiseido Accentuating Stick in Rosy Flush used as lipstain
- Shiseido G5 Chianti Rose used as lipgloss
EYES
- Prep with Nars Pro prime smudgeproof eyeshadow base
- Trace the upper lash line with Chambor Ultra glide liner in Purple Haze where as the lower lids with Bourjois Khol and Contour 16 hr eye pencil in Brun Design. Trace from a point in the inner corners to a point in the outer corners.
- To create a perfect soft stencil, used a medium brown in the outer crease to contour followed by a rosy brown in the middle and inner crease from the 28 color palette. Blend into the brow bone.
- Dust on satiny soft rosy mauve on the lids while higlighting the inner corners and on the brow bone.
- Smoke out the lower lid with a darker brown to create a hazy effect.
- Curl lashes with Shiseido Eye lash curler and finish off with Clarins Instant Definition Mascara.
- Define and shape the brows with a darker brown from the palette and set with brow gel.
This is a simply DIY look that is rosy and classy enough for a candle light dinnner.
